I'm an American who spent six months traveling around Europe. I had a great time, but there are a few things I wish I'd done differently. The experience was enriching, allowing me to immerse myself in diverse cultures, savor delicious cuisines, and meet fascinating people from all walks of life. However, as with any journey, there were lessons learned along the way.
One major aspect I underestimated was the importance of planning. While spontaneity can lead to unexpected adventures, having a rough itinerary would have allowed me to maximize my time in each city. Additionally, I found that understanding local customs and etiquette made a significant difference in my interactions with residents.
Another consideration is budgeting. I often splurged on experiences that, while memorable, strained my finances. A more balanced approach to spending could have allowed for longer stays or additional destinations. Overall, while my travels were unforgettable, a few adjustments could have enhanced the journey even further.
